For the first time, Economist Conferences, a global conference provider that is part of The Economist Group, publisher of The Economist, will be hosting a government roundtable in Tirana on September 14th 2006. The inaugural event will bring together the key players from business and government to debate Albania’s future.
Nenad Pacek, Director, Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) CEEMEA and conference chairman commented that; “Companies that have dedicated resources in Albania are finding that sales levels are higher than expected. Kam prirjen të besoj se edhe në debatet publike midis shqiptarëve të letrave (doemos të atyre që ushqehen me politikë) ka jo pak prani sedërllinjsh. Virusit ballkanik nuk i shpëtojnë dot as individë që mëtojnë të mbeten në kurorën e përfaqësimit. Por jo vetëm ata.

Për shkak të mënyrës se si rrodhi historia shqiptare (pasojë e një diktature jo njerëzore, e një letërsie pa njeriun si qenie ekzistenciale, por edhe e një shtypi dhunuar pothuajse dëshirueshëm prej politikës), e Shkuara mbetet edhe më tej si Vazhdimësi. Të mësuar prej vitesh ta shohin veten në “faqet e para”, nuk kanë shkuar ndërmend të largohen nga politika ditore, i kanë përdorur pjesë të kontributit të tyre për sezonalitete të saj; nuk rrijnë dot pa titujt e mëdhenj dhe reklamat vetëtitëse të skenës publike...
