Is the Web finally ready for a patent-busting site?

For each Internet social network effort that thrives, there are dozens that fail to generate any interest from the surfing masses.

An early dud was BountyQuest.com, launched in 2000 with financial backing from Amazon's Jeff Bezos. The premise was simple: Posters to the site would highlight a patent they wanted to see blown out of the water, and visitors could receive up to $50,000 for presenting evidence that the patent wasn't, in fact, the first document to describe the invention in question. BountyQuest's problem was that too few got involved in the action. It fizzled within three years.

Ajo ka ardhur si shprehje e natyrshme e zhvendosjeve religjioze te truallit shqiptar ne perndjekje te evolucionit te revelates hyjnore ne shekuj. Une mendoj se shqiptaret kane ditur te jene te sinqerte kur kane zgjedhur politeizmin, ashtu siç kane dashur me shpirt krishterimin- qofte ate roman apo bizantin, apo kur kane perqafuar islamin ne kerkim te monoteizmit te paster.

Dikur Ernest Heminguej shkroi nje liber te çuditshem, ku shpjegonte sesi nje plak peshkatar, nje dite, vendosi te nxirrte ne breg gjahun me te madh te jetes se tij. Koha, kapitja, fati dhe pafuqia per te pare gjerat mire, bene qe ai te nxirrte ne breg vetem skeletin e nje peshku.

Diçka me heret, nje tjeter plak, nga nje ballkon i vogel sa nje varke, vendosi te nxirrte nga deti i roberise nje popull, te cilin ai besonte se e njihte ashtu si plaku tjeter detin. Ai kishte gjithsej nje shkop dhe nje flamur, shume njerez perreth, por pak vizionare. Dhe tmerresisht shume pak fat.

Shqiptaret e Kosoves po e perjetojne festen kombetare te pavaresise, me ndjesine se sapo e kane humbur ate. Projekti i Kosoves tashme do te realizohet mbi nje baze te re dhe krejtesisht te paqendrueshme. Deri me tani ne nivelin e larte kishte nje instabilitet te lexueshem, prodhuar edhe prej frenimit te procesit te njohjes nderkombetare te Kosoves. Tash kjo paqendrueshmeri u zbrit ne terren.

Eshte rrezuar de facto kushtetuta e Kosoves, eshte vene ne diskutim integriteti i saj territorial dhe institucional, sistemi i unifikuar multi-etnik do te zevendesohet, qofte edhe perkohshem, me modelin nje-etnik te qeverisjes, sipas zonave. E thene thjesht, nje Bosnje e re nen nje qeverisje qe brenda 4-5 muajve do te nderroje duart nga UNMIK tek EULEX.

Nënshkrimi i Planit gjashtë-pikësh i përpiluar nga OKB-ja dhe Beogradi, ashtu siç po i bën presion BE-ja presidentit Sejdiu dhe kryeministrit Thaçi, është një e ide e keqe. Ata duhet ta rezistojnë këtë presion.

Shoqata e Bankave, pas nje konsultimi te gjere qe ndermorri me anetaret e saj, vendosi te heshtte publikisht ne lidhje me krizen ekonomike globale dhe me pasojat qe mund te godasin boten financiare per shkak te nje recesioni te pakontrollueshem ekonomik.

Ne Shqiperi vendimi u mor ne unanimitet thuajse te plote, duke konstatuar se shqiptaret – fale pervojave te hidhura te meparshme- mund te jene shume mosbesues edhe ndaj mesazheve me pozitive dhe optimiste. Per me teper ne Shqiperi sipas analisteve te mirenjohur edhe nderkombetare, kjo situate kritike qe goditi SHBA dhe disa vende europiane, ketu nuk ka shans te vije ne shprehje. Ndaj te flasesh publikisht rreth nje krize, ‘eshte si te zgjosh ariun i cili po fle’,- ishte vendimi i Bankave dhe i shoqates se tyre.

Pyetja ime e pare eshte nese vertet ariu po fle’. Kurse leximi i ketij vendimi i ngjan perifrazimit te gotes pergjysem me uje. Kendi i shikimit e ben diferencen.

People are going to the movies again.

Last week's economic data shows that "risk aversion hysteria" has had a major impact on economic activity in the United States.

The total number of people receiving unemployment benefits(aka continuing claims) increased to almost 3.9 million in late October. As a share of the workforce, continuing claims are now back to the peak hit in the aftermath of the 2001 recession. Meanwhile, retail sales plummeted in October and are down 4.1% versus a year ago, the worst one-year comparison on record.

September's international trade data showed a smaller trade deficit, but the underlying figures reported record declines for both imports and exports.

All of these figures are consistent with our view that the U.S. has been experiencing a once-in-a-multiple-generation negative shock to monetary velocity, the speed with which money moves its way through the economy, as both business and consumers pull back from economic activity.
